Hey Ms. Moss,
I know we've only met a few times in person but I stubbed my toe on a root the other day
I fell
And looked up at you
And you smiled at me
Your complexion was beautiful and I, just lying on your toes, felt warm
When I went home later that day I couldn't stop thinking about the way that you looked at me
It makes me blush and sweat
I think, if I can be honest
WAIT stop there young one, please step towards me and put your palm on my skin
It will allow us to speak without words
And so I did
I UNDERSTAND that you'd like to speak to me about a more human concept, but before you do I'd like you to remember that I've lived a thousand lifetimes
You see I am the forest and I grow as god instructs me
I feel, like you, but also my toes are tickled by ants
Scratched by cougars
And hugged by the finest little chickadeedeedee
His name is Sammymememe
And you might not think I mind the weather, but I both get thirsty and cold
Lonely and sad
My favourite time of year is spring;
I like the way snow feels like a big weighted blanket but it chills me out too much
Once that last drop of snow melts under the bright but not yet strong sunrise
I feel like I have a spring back in my step
I can explore
I can talk to my friends again, it's beautiful
I tell you this because I want you to know that you can't make this decision with your mind
Each job, decision and everything in between is like snow - it's never forever - and when the passion melts away…
You just gotta go
Up, down, left, right
North or south
It doesn't really matter
But inspiration is found in movement
And movement is made with miniature actions
Like today my 16th root on my right-left mid level column chanced upon this fascinating fungi named philly
I suppose what I might say is believe in fate
What was supposed to happen did,
I hear your voices speaking with some restraint but I need you to hear me,
For more than a moment, I've listened, I've seen, and I've had time to think.
It's going to be okay,
No matter what,
Just go
but don't forget the feeling of my skin
And please, take one of my eyelashes along your way
Let it support your limbs when your breath is shallow
And while you feel like you're standing at the end of a tunnel squeezed by a billion blue elastic bands.
Just touch your heart to my gift and remember these words
The start of a new journey feels foreign
only if
you forget that your heart
has been travelling your entire life.
